‘Ohana

Located in the Polynesian Resort, ‘Ohana offers family style Polynesian dinner and character breakfast.

General Info

• ‘Ohana is located on the second floor of the monorail. From MK, you can reach it by boat or by monorail.
• Disney rates the price as $$.
• Character breakfast features an American breakfast with a little tropical flair. Lilo and Stitch are the stars here, but Mickey and Pluto make appearances here.
• The Polynesian Dinner features storytellers, coconut races, island music, and food cooked over an 18 foot fire pit.
• The atmosphere is often described “chaotic,” in the nicest way possible. A lot of families, and a lot of festivities.
• ‘Ohana is one of the restaurants that employs the new cancellation fee of $10 per person.

Kilimanjaro Safaris

Perhaps the most remarkable part about Animal Kingdom, Kilimanjaro Safaris takes you on an adventure through Disney’s own wildlife reserve where you can see all sorts of incredible creatures up close like you’ve never seen before.

Touring Tips

• If there was ever a ride that had to be seen, it would be this one. There is NOTHING like it asides from traveling to East Africa to go on a safari.
• All animals and people are protected from each other on this ride. 
• Definitely try to use Fast Pass here, since it is one of the busiest rides in the park
• In general, try to go on the ride early in the morning or late in the afternoon to see the most animals. However, I have found multiple times that if you go while it’s raining outside, you will see the most animals being the most active.
• If you want good photos, sit on the outsides of the rows.
• There is a new feature to this ride that allows guests to go on “Adventure Treks” walking tours throughout the reserve.
• Feel free to ask questions on the animals. The drivers know their stuff!
• It is hard for littler kids to spot the animals, so let them do their best on their own. They’ll see some no matter what, just maybe not the more shy ones.
• I have had animals come right out to my vehicle. I find giraffes and rhinos to be the less afraid of the trucks. One time, I had a giraffe ready to stick its head in our vehicle! SO COOL.
• Look for some baby elephants that were recently born! 
• After the ride, take a walk on the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail to see other cool animals!

Fun Facts

• The animals are treated especially well in Disney, and are found to lead happy lives. Endangered species births have taken place at AK!
• The “Little Red” story will be taken away and replaced with a zebra exhibit around Fall 2012.
• The ride is meant to simulate an East African safari, and spans across 800 sq m of land!
• The various ecosystems of this ride include wetlands, savannas, and forests.
• There are various hidden barriers that prevent the animals from entering other ecosystems.
• This ride was partially inspired by Jungle Cruise, which Walt originally wanted to feature with real animals. 
• The music that your driver puts on as you pass the elephants is called Hapa Duniani by African Dawn, and can be played on my page!
